BANK CLERKS

BANK CLERKS
Hello guys today its my first post on BANK CLERK. It has very good scope in India. I think you will say that Bank clerk ..........the job clerk is a kind of boring or something but believe me after reading about the scope of Bank clerk you will definitely give a try to this.

So..... WHAT IS A BANK CLERK ?

Very simple I will not give any definition of it.
When you visit any bank you often have seen the counters and in the counters there are people who are employed by the bank to provide the services of the bank to the public. I think you got it. They are called the bank clerks.

Now you will ask......

WHAT IS THEIR JOB ?

Again very simple...... they give you cash on your demand and of course you have to fill voucher for that, they makes entry into your account after you deposit cash in your account, passing entries in your passbook and many other jobs you will learn about those jobs in probation. I will tell you about this probation thing later.

IS THERE ANY SCOPE OF BANK CLERK ?

I think you will be surprise to know that in the year 2011 number of aspirants was 44 LAKH [ IBPS ] yes you have read that absolutely correct. 44 lakh students have given the exam. And 5.31 lakh students were qualified.
I think it has real competition in any entrance exams.

It has a stiff competition because of job security. Every person needs job security and you know why our ancestors want us to do Government jobs because they know very well that private job can paid good packages but equally the person has fear of leaving it. In private job there is high work load against Government job work load  in India. I think every Indian knows about that. Okay now move to the topic. This article is about public sector bank clerks not about private bank clerks.
STRUCTURE OF THE EXAM:

There are 19 public sector bank in India and to apply for job of clerk in these banks there is one single board   IBPS------ INSTITUTE OF BANKING PERSONNEL SELECTION. Those 19 Public Sector Banks are following :-

Allahabad Bank
Andhra Bank
Bank of Baroda
Bank of India
Bank of Maharashtra
Canara Bank
Central Bank of India
Corporation Bank
Dena Bank
Indian Bank
Indian Overseas Bank
Oriental Bank of Commerce
Punjab National Bank
Punjab & Sind Bank
Syndicate Bank
Union Bank of India
United Bank of India
UCO Bank
Vijaya Bank
Now you have noticed that there is not our most prestigious bank in the list. Yes,, you got that right STATE BANK OF INDIA literally known as SBI. Actually SBI conducts exam for its clerks and officers separately. Pattern of recruiting the clerk is exactly same as IBPS CWE. I will tell you about SBI in next post. Continue with CWE.

There are two stages in CWE :
Written test
Interview
WRITTEN TEST                                                                    DURATION : 150 MINUTES
TOTAL MARKS : 250

Written test is famous with the name of CWE . It states Common Written Examination:
There are five topics in this written test. Of course the written test will contain objective type questions.

Test of Computer Knowledge
{ Note : All the Above tests will be given in two languages English and Hindi except Test of English.}

Each test will be of 50 marks.

ELIGIBILITY :

1. Age :    Between  18 - 28 can give the exam.

    passed with 50 % marks

{ Note : The board is thinking of educational qualification is to extend to Graduation Degree from 2012 on-wards. But official it is not announced yet but when the official advertisement comes it will be very clear. }

Now main important question is how to prepare for these topics. Following info will be useful for you for preparation of this exam.

1. For the preparation of  Reasoning the very best two books are:

UPKAR PUBLISHERS BANK CLERICAL : This book is written by Dr. Lal and Singh very experienced writers of these kind exams.
R. S. Aggarwal' verbal and non verbal reasoning.
In the market there are many books but I will personally recommend you to read these two books only. One thing is much more important don't buy too many books for any particular topic. Just two books is enough for one topic.

2. For the preparation of English Language:

UPKAR PUBLISHERS BANK CLERICAL by Dr. Lal and Singh
    Lucent’s General English
    Wren & Martin

3. For the preparation of Numerical ability:

UPKAR PUBLISHERS BANK CLERICAL by Dr. Lal and Singh
 R.S. Agarwal ( Quicker Maths )

4. For the preparation of General Awareness :

You have to read at least one newspaper daily. The best will be " The Hindu ".
And one magazine. The best will be " Pratiyogita Darpan ".
And any book consists the knowledge of Banking Industry.
For daily update or news you can Click here and make it the bookmark .

5. For the preparation of Computer Knowledge :
If you have computer with Microsoft Windows 7. You can click F1 or help button for basic knowledge.
You can gain some knowledge online for free click here and make it bookmark.

Most importantly buy a book which contained many last year question papers for practice. It will help you in completing the written test on time. It will increase your accuracy and boost the confidence. Remember this buy the book which has answers on its backside that will help you to correct your answer.

IS THERE ANY NEED OF COACHING:

Well in my opinion there is no need of coaching for this because if you have a strong time table and a rigid determination you can qualify the test with your own hard work. Moreover you can save the money.

WHAT AFTER WE HAVE GIVEN THE EXAM :

After you have given the written test wait for Score Card. Score card is a kind of mark sheet. The score card is valid till one year only. After you have with your score card you can apply for the post of bank clerk in any of the above mentioned 19 banks.
